Popcorn Chicken Mac 'n' Cheese with Crispy Topping

Ingredients

FOR TE MAC 'N' CHEESE: 
  • 1 packet KLFC Crispy Popcorn Chicken 
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

FOR THE CRISPY TOPPING: 
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

STEP 1: COOK THE PASTA
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook elbow macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

STEP 2: MAKE THE CHEESE SAUCE
  • In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  • Gradually add milk, whisking constantly, and cook until thickened (about 3-5 minutes).
  • Reduce heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.

STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE MAC 'N' CHEESE
  • Mix the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce until well-coated. Transfer to a greased 9x9-inch baking dish.

STEP 4: ADD THE POPCORN CHICKEN
  • Evenly distribute KLFC Popcorn Chicken on top of the mac 'n' cheese.

STEP 5: PREPARE THE CRISPY TOPPING
  • In a small bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, melted butter, and Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle the mixture over the popcorn chicken and mac 'n' cheese.

STEP 6: BAKE
  • Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the dish for 10-12 minutes, or until the topping is golden and crispy.

STEP 7: SERVE
  • Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm for a hearty and indulgent meal.
